Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Regarding people’s negligence today, in our present time, with fatwas. We see them rushing to issue fatwas. What is the guidance from your eminence?
Answer:
Answer: As we mentioned, it is forbidden for a person to attribute to Allah what he does not know, and attributing to Allah what he does not know is greater than shirk (associating partners with Allah). He (Exalted and Majestic is He) said: Therefore, it is forbidden to attribute to Allah what one does not know. One should not issue a fatwa; rather, he should refer the questioners to the scholars, not issue fatwas to them, and not convey to them a fatwa that he may not know or may not understand its relevance.
