Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
What is the ruling on being negligent in prayer?

Answer:
It is one of the characteristics of the hypocrites, and its ruling is prohibition. It is one of the characteristics of the people of hypocrisy:
Indeed, the hypocrites [think to] deceive Allah, but He is deceiving them. And when they stand for prayer, they stand lazilyإِنَّ الْمُنَافِقِينَ يُخَادِعُونَ اللَّهَ وَهُوَ خَادِعُهُمْ وَإِذَا قَامُوا إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ قَامُوا كُسَالَى
[Surat al-Nisa: 142]. This is one of their vile traits. Therefore, it is obligatory for the believer to be active in prayer, eager for it, and hastening to it, so that he does not imitate the enemies of Allah.
