Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q215: The questioner asks: Does giving charity for the printing of religious books, if the person has not learned them, count as ongoing charity? And what is the thing a person should do if he is able and wealthy in ongoing and righteous deeds?
A215: Printing books is beneficial, and it is a form of participating in spreading knowledge, and it carries a great reward. The best of ongoing and righteous deeds are:
First: To spend the wealth that Allah has made obligatory upon him from the financial rights in his wealth, such as zakah and obligatory maintenance, then to give charity to the needy, and then to participate in charitable projects. Second: And the best thing to give in charity is ongoing charity, which is the endowment (waqf), which is: holding back the principal and making the benefit available. He endows from his continuous wealth, provides for the needs of the needy, and his righteous deeds continue after his death. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Riyad as-Salihin 949 . Ongoing charity includes the endowment; there was not a single one of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) who did not endow something of his wealth.
