Farewell Tawaf: I had stomach pain and severe diarrhea

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 21717 )
Q1: Five years ago, I performed Hajj al-Islam. During the Farewell Tawaf, I had stomach pain and very severe diarrhea, and my wudu' was broken more than once. I was aware that I was circling on the second floor due to the extreme crowding. Because water was available on the second floor, I would perform wudu' as soon as it was broken and continue from where I had stopped in the tawaf. I acted according to my knowledge and according to what I had heard, namely that wudu' is obligatory in tawaf.
Is my action sound and valid, or not?

A1: If the matter is as you described, your tawaf is not valid, and you are required to pay a fidyah, which is a sheep that is acceptable for the 'Id sacrifice, to be slaughtered in Makkah and distributed to the poor. If you are unable to do so, you are required to fast for ten days. This is because if a person performing tawaf has his wudu' broken during the tawaf, he is required to perform wudu' and restart the tawaf from the beginning, and he may not build upon what he had previously done in his tawaf. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
