Fatwa number ( 18552 )
Q: I am a disabled woman living with people. My kinship with them is through a sixth-degree grandfather, and their mother is my cousin. I did not know any of my relatives, for Allah took them away when I was young. My cousin raised me, and he was in the position of my brother and was my support, but he passed away. So, all that remains for me are people whose kinship with me is through a fourth, fifth, or third-degree grandfather. I have taken a pilgrim with a man who is related to me through a fifth-degree grandfather. Is he a mahram for me or not? And is my Hajj valid with him? During the Hajj, when stoning the last pillar, I collided with a person and fainted. I note that the stone did not reach the basin. What is required of me in this matter?
A : The presence of a legal mahram for a woman, such as a father, son, brother, husband, paternal uncle, maternal uncle, or similar, is a condition for her performing Hajj. Therefore, a woman who has no mahram is not obligated to perform Hajj until she finds a mahram. Since you have performed Hajj in the company of the aforementioned person, you have sinned by traveling without a mahram, but the Hajj is valid. You must repent and seek forgiveness from Allah for traveling without a mahram. As for the pebbles of the jamarat that you mentioned in your question did not reach the basin
of the throwing area, if it was just one as you mentioned, we hope that it will not be harmful. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
