Q: Is it permissible for me to perform Hajj on behalf of my mother from my zakah?
A : It is not permissible for you, O questioner, to pay anything from your zakah for the Hajj of your deceased mother; because if she left an estate and did not perform Hajj, then Hajj is performed on her behalf from her estate. And if she did not leave an estate, then Hajj is not obligatory upon her; because she was not able to afford it, and Hajj is only obligatory upon the one who is able to afford it. Allah the Exalted said:[Ali 'Imran 3:97] . And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

And [due] to Allah from the people is a pilgrimage to the House - for whoever is able to find thereto a way
