The Ruling on Intercourse on the Night of Fasting

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 18323 )
Q: I have two wives who were watching the Bahrain television, and they heard one of the shaykhs say that intercourse in Ramadan is forbidden. It appears that what this shaykh meant was during the day, but he did not clarify that intercourse during the day is forbidden and that it is not forbidden at night. Rather, we are in a dispute with them about the fact that intercourse at night is not forbidden, and many women say that intercourse is forbidden. I ask for information on this matter. Peace be upon you and Allah's mercy and blessings.
A: Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, has made permissible intercourse, eating, and drinking on the night of fasting in the month of Ramadan. He, the Exalted, said:
It has been made permissible for you the night preceding fasting to go to your wives [for sexual relations]. They are clothing for you and you are clothing for them. Allah knows that you used to deceive yourselves, so He accepted your repentance and forgave you. So now, have relations with them and seek that which Allah has decreed for you. And eat and drink until the white thread of dawn becomes distinct to you from the black thread [of night]. Then complete the fast until the sunsetأُحِلَّ لَكُمْ لَيْلَةَ الصِّيَامِ الرَّفَثُ إِلَى نِسَائِكُمْ هُنَّ لِبَاسٌ لَكُمْ وَأَنْتُمْ لِبَاسٌ لَهُنَّ عَلِمَ اللَّهُ أَنَّكُمْ كُنْتُمْ تَخْتَانُونَ أَنْفُسَكُمْ فَتَابَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَعَفَا عَنْكُمْ فَالآنَ بَاشِرُوهُنَّ وَابْتَغُوا مَا كَتَبَ اللَّهُ لَكُمْ وَكُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا حَتَّى يَتَبَيَّنَ لَكُمُ الْخَيْطُ الأَبْيَضُ مِنَ الْخَيْطِ الأَسْوَدِ مِنَ الْفَجْرِ ثُمَّ أَتِمُّوا الصِّيَامَ إِلَى اللَّيْلِ
[Al-Baqarah 2:187]
. Interourse was forbidden on the night of fasting in the beginning, but it was abrogated by this noble verse. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
