The second question of Fatwa No. ( 16875 )
Q2: What are the days on which fasting is forbidden?
A2: The days on which fasting is forbidden are the Day of Doubt: which is the thirtieth of Sha'ban if the crescent moon is not seen, and the two days of the festivals: 'Id al-Fitr and 'Id al-Adha, and the three days of Tashriq: the eleventh, twelfth, and thirteenth of
of Dhul-Hijjah. However, the one who is unable to slaughter the sacrificial animal for tamattu' or qiran must fast them; for it is established fromA'ishahand Ibn 'Umar(may Allah be pleased with them), that they said: "It is not permissible to fast on the days of Tashriq except for the one who does not find the sacrificial animal." This was narrated byal-Bukhariin his (Sahih). In addition to this: the prohibition of fasting on Friday alone; for it is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) the prohibition of doing so, unless one fasts the day before it or the day after it. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
