The first question of Fatwa number ( 4052 )
Q1: Can we fast two days here for the sake of fasting the Day of 'Arafah; because we hear on the radio here that the Day of 'Arafah is tomorrow, which corresponds to the eighth of Dhul-Hijjah for us?
A1: The Day of 'Arafah is the day on which people stand at 'Arafah , and fasting it is prescribed for those who are not in the state of Hajj. If you wish to fast, you fast this day. If you fast a day before it, there is no harm. If you fast the nine days from the beginning of Dhul-Hijjah, that is good; because they are noble days and it is recommended to fast them; due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):Sahih Ibn Hibban 6:17 narrated by al-Bukhari . And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

There are no days in which righteous deeds are better and more beloved to Allah than these ten days. It was said: O Messenger of Allah, not even jihad in the cause of Allah? He said: Not even jihad in the cause of Allah, except for a man who goes out with his person and his wealth, and then returns from that with nothing.
