Q: My mother, who is approximately 75 years old, previously fasted days from the months of Ramadan that amounted to 75 days . We hope you will inform us of what my mother should do, and whether fasting is sufficient, or feeding, or both?
A: If your mother is able to make up the days that are upon her, it is obligatory for her to make them up, and it is obligatory for her, due to the delay in making them up, to feed a poor person for each day the amount of one and a half kilograms of food. And if she is not able to make them up
due to her advanced age or her chronic illness that is not expected to be cured, then the aforementioned feeding is sufficient. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
