Ruling on making up specific days of Ramadan that were broken while ignorant

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
You said in another case, O Shaykh: When I reached the age of accountability, I did not know the correct way to perform the obligatory acts, including fasting. So I would fast some days and break the fast on others, and my family did not alert me to this matter. When I grew older and older, I realized that I had been mistaken. How should I act in this situation, especially since I broke the fast on some days and I do not know how many? May Allah reward you with good?
Answer: You must make up the days you broke the fast based on the estimate that is most likely in your mind. Fast the days you estimate you missed, and praise be to Allah. If your estimate is that you missed ten days, twenty days, more or less, act according to that. There is no need for certainty; act according to your estimate, and praise be to Allah. Do what you think you did. If you are unsure whether it was ten or fifteen days, fast fifteen. If you are unsure whether you missed fifteen or twenty, fast twenty. Act according to the most likely estimate, and praise be to Allah, and you owe nothing.
However, if you are well-off and able to feed people, feed them for the fasting that passed before last Ramadan. For the fasting you delayed before last Ramadan, feed one poor person for each day, in addition to the fasting. The amount is half a sa' (a dry measure of about 3 kg), which is approximately one and a half kilograms of the local staple food, such as dates, rice, wheat, or barley. Half a sa' is approximately one and a half kilograms. Give this to the poor; you may gather it all and give it to one or two poor people, and that is sufficient, and praise be to Allah, if you are well-off. But if you are unable and poor, there is no need to feed; the fasting is sufficient, and praise be to Allah, according to your estimate and your best effort. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
