If one dies with fasting owed, his guardian fasts on his behalf if it is feasible

Fatwa number ( 14541 )
Q: My mother passed away, and she told me during her lifetime that she owed two months of fasting from Ramadan over two years. This was because the month of fasting arrived while she was in a state of postpartum bleeding, and she died without making up those fasts. As I recall, women at that time engaged in agricultural work in addition to household duties. She lived to be about fifty years old. Should I fast on her behalf or feed people? How should the feeding be done? Should I slaughter some goats and distribute them among sixty households, or should I pay the equivalent of the food in money? Please guide us, may Allah reward you with good, as I want to clear her obligation.
A: It is best that you fast on behalf of your mother; based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
If a person dies without observing Saum (fasts), his Wali should make it up on his behalf.من مات وعليه صوم صام عنه وليه
Riyad as-Salihin 1858
It is agreed upon as authentic. The guardian is the close relative. If fasting is not feasible for you or for any of her other relatives, then feed a poor person for each day, and the amount is half a sa' (a dry measure of about 3 kg) of the staple food of the country. If you gather the total amount and give it to one poor person, that suffices. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
