Naming One's Child Daniel
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 21415 )
Q: My son's name is (Daniel). Is there any prohibition in this name? Knowing that his name is mentioned in the tafsir of Ibn Kathir , and that it is the name of a righteous prophet among the prophets of Allah, as well as the prevalence of the name Daniel in our society. I ask your Eminence to inform us about this.
A: There is nothing wrong with naming one's child (Daniel); because there is no harm in it, and it is the name
of a prophet among the prophets of Allah; and naming one's child with the names of the prophets is permissible; such as Muhammad, Musa, and Isa, and so on. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
