Naming oneself 'Abd al-Hashim

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 21262 )
Q: I submit my petition and inform you that my name is: ('Abd al-Hashim). Some of my brothers have objected to this name, so I ask your Eminence to issue a fatwa and direct me to the General Directorate of Passports to change my name. May Allah preserve you and care for you.
A: Naming oneself ('Abd al-Hashim) is not permissible; because it involves making a slave of someone other than Allah; because the name Hashim is not among the names of Allah, but rather among the names of created beings, so it is not permissible to make a slave of him. Therefore, the name must be changed to a good name that has no objection in it. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
