Q: Regarding the sheep for the 'Id sacrifice, is it possible to intend it as a sacrifice, and at the same time as charity for deceased parents , or those who are still alive?
A: Regarding the 'Id sacrifice, what is prescribed is that one eats from it, along with his family, and gives charity from it to those in need. One sheep suffices for anyone from his family, whether living or deceased, for whom he intends it. This is based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):Sahih al-Bukhari 1 , and because he (peace and blessings be upon him) used to sacrifice with a single ram on behalf of himself and his family. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
