Q: I hope you will grant me a fatwa on the following: 1 - What is the meaning of the saying of Allah the Exalted:[Al-Baqarah 2:196] ? 2 - Is there a requirement for the sacrificial animal of the pilgrimage (hady) regarding age and defects that is the same as the requirement for the 'Id sacrifice (udhiyah) ? 3 - Is it permissible to slaughter the 'Id sacrifice and the pilgrim's sacrificial animal at night after the first day of the days of 'Id al-Adha ? 4 - Is it permissible to slaughter the animal for a vow at night or not? If it is not permissible to slaughter it at night, what is the evidence for that? 5 - When does the time for the takbir during the ten days begin and when does it end? 6 - A man said: If such and such happens to me - an 'Id for the sake of Allah - a blood (sacrifice). The question is: Does the ruling of the 'Id apply to the ruling of the vow, and is it permissible for its owner to eat from it or not? I ask Allah the Most High, the All-Powerful to guide us to what He loves and is pleased with and to make your knowledge beneficial to the Muslims.
with your knowledge, O Muslims.
A: First: The meaning of the saying of Allah the Exalted:[Al-Baqarah 2:196] is: whatever is made easy from the sacrificial animals of livestock, which are camels, cattle, and sheep, and the minimum for the pilgrim's sacrificial animal is a sheep that suffices as an 'Id sacrifice. Second: Yes, that is required. Third: It is better and more preferable to slaughter the pilgrim's sacrificial animal and the 'Id sacrifices during the day, and if it is slaughtered on the nights of the days of Tashriq, that suffices. Fourth: The absolute takbir begins from the dawn of the first day of the ten days of Dhul Hijjah, and the restricted takbir after the prayers begins from the dawn of the Day of 'Arafah until the 'Asr prayer of the last day of the days of Tashriq. Fifth: If the condition upon which the vow is contingent occurs, it is obligatory for him to fulfill the 'Id; because it is a vow in meaning, and if he did not intend specific people with this vow, then its distribution is to the poor. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
