The first question of Fatwa No. ( 20401 )
Q1: A man asked me that he performed Hajj in the year 1415 AH and one of the pilgrims gave him a sum of money on the first day of the days of Tashriq, whereupon he had a blood obligation (slaughter), but the man did not purchase the sacrificial animal , and now he wants to repent for what he committed, and therefore asked me about it. Thus, I ask you to kindly answer this issue.
A1: It is obligatory for him to hasten to slaughter the fidyah for which he entrusted the slaughter in Makkah , and distribute its meat to the poor, and this serves as making up the missed obligation along with repentance to Allah (Mighty and Majestic). And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
