The first question of Fatwa No. ( 19457 )
Q1: If it is necessary to have an intention before any word, deed, movement, or stillness, what is the ruling on rejecting the intention or invalidating it, such as saying: “I have invalidated my fast”?
A1: If one intends to break the intention of an obligatory fast, it is invalidated; due to the saying of
the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): If the intention is absent, the consideration of the deed, which is fasting, is absent. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
