Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 14273 )
Q: My father fell ill and his illness lasted for approximately one year. Ramadan came and he did not fast it due to his ignorance. He recovered from his illness but did not make up that month, knowing that he was a pious man and his illness had become severe.
and his time came to an end at an age exceeding ninety years. He has a son who is an employee and has children, as well as married daughters. Is it permissible for his family to make up the fast on his behalf or to give charity?
A: As long as he recovered from his illness and did not make up the fasting he owed until his time came to an end, it is obligatory for one of his family members to make up that fasting on his behalf. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
