Fasting of the diabetic patient

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 17029 )
Q2: I was diagnosed with diabetes before Ramadan in 1413 AH, and the doctors prohibited me from fasting in my condition. Ramadan came in 1414 AH, and they also prohibited me from fasting. I am being treated with insulin injections three times a day. Do I have to make up the fasts? I am under my father’s care. How do I feed people if there is a requirement to do so? And can I estimate the value of the food in money and then give it as charity in one lump sum?
A2: If you are unable to fast because of this illness, then you break your fast. Then, if you are able to make up the fasts, you must make up the days you missed. If you are unable to make them up due to a continuous inability, then you must feed one poor person for each day the amount of one and a half kilograms of the food commonly eaten in the country. This suffices in place of the fast. There is no objection to combining all the expiation required of you for all the days and paying it to one poor person or more at the beginning or the end of the month. May Allah cure you of all evil.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
