Fasting of a Heart Patient
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 14142 )
Q: I am suffering from a heart condition, and I was hospitalized in Buraydah , where the doctor prescribed continuous treatment. During Ramadan fasting, I experience extreme fatigue. I also suffer from other abdominal illnesses, such as colitis and very severe constipation. We ask your eminence to inform me about fasting and what I should do regarding it. May Allah protect you.
A: It is obligatory for you to make up the number of days you missed in Ramadan if you recover from your illness. If the illness persists and recovery is not expected, you must expiate for each day by feeding one poor person. The amount of food for the poor person is half a sa' (a dry measure of about 3 kg) of wheat, rice, or the like. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
