Explaining the Method of Treating Mental Illnesses, Sorrows, and Worries

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q226: The questioner asks: What is the treatment for one who is afflicted with numerous mental illnesses? Especially in our present time, where anxiety and psychological disturbance, sorrows, and worries have become prevalent?
A226: He must fear Allah. Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) said:
And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out (3) And will provide for him from where he does not expect. And whoever relies upon Allah - then He is sufficient for him. Indeed, Allah will accomplish His purpose. Allah has already set for everything a [decreed] extent.
[At-Talaq 65:2-3]
. Second: He must be patient, seek reward from Allah, and not be distressed. Third: If he has a treatment available with mental health doctors, let him go to them, perhaps they will find a cure for him; because what he has may be a mental illness. And if what he has is a whisper from Satan, he should seek refuge in Allah from Satan, and it will depart from him by the permission of Allah. He said
the Exalted:
And if an evil suggestion comes to you from Satan, then seek refuge in Allah. Indeed, He is Hearing and Knowing.
[Al-A'raf 7:200]
. And he should also not pay attention to the whisper, but leave it and reject it completely; then it will not harm him by the permission of Allah the Exalted.
