The ruling on traveling to visit the grave of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q172: The questioner asks: What is the ruling on traveling for the purpose of visiting the grave of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)? And what is the prescribed supplication in that regard?
A172: No authentic hadith has been transmitted regarding traveling to visit the grave of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), nor any other grave. Visiting the grave of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) is for those who are in Madinah, whether they are residents of it or visitors coming to it. He should greet the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) as soon as he arrives, and he should not repeatedly visit the grave of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) every time he enters the Prophet’s Mosque. It is sufficient for him, upon first arriving in Madinah, to greet the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). As for the hadiths that have been transmitted specifically regarding traveling to visit him, they are all invalid and hold no proof, as the great scholars of hadith among the people of knowledge have pointed out.
