Traveling to al-Madinah al-Munawwarah for the purpose of visiting the Prophet's grave

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 15725 )
Q: He is an Egyptian working in Qatar , and he is a religious man who wishes to visit the grave of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He tried to save the necessary amount for that, but his mother’s illness and the expenses for her treatment caused him to spend everything he had saved. One day, he saw a dream in which a person wearing a white jilbab and a white cap, with a face full of light, said to him: “I am the one who will intercede for you on the Day of Resurrection before your Lord...” and so on, until the end of what he saw.
A: It is not permissible to travel to al-Madinah al-Munawwarah for the purpose of visiting the grave of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Rather, what is prescribed is traveling to visit al-Masjid al-Nabawi to pray in it. And whoever visits al-Masjid al-Nabawi , he should greet the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). This dream that you saw is from Shaytan; he wants to frighten you and mislead you from the path of Allah. So do not pay attention
to it, and do not concern yourself with it. And whoever intends to visit al-Masjid al-Nabawi , it is not obligatory for him to visit it; rather, he may leave off the travel and he owes nothing. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
