Wearing sewn clothing intentionally while knowing that it is forbidden

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 20691 )
Q: My father entered the state of ihram for Hajj last year from the miqat, wore the ihram garments, and recited the talbiyah for an individual Hajj. When he reached al-Huda, he intentionally wore sewn clothing, knowing that it was forbidden, and kept it on for a full day. Then he removed the sewn clothing, which included his head covering, and stood at 'Arafah and performed all the rites. Is my father required to do anything, and is his Hajj complete? If his Hajj is complete and he owes a sacrificial animal, where should he slaughter it, what should he do with it, and is it sufficient if he does so in his home country? I ask for a detailed answer to convince him of what is religiously required of him, as many conflicting opinions have been presented to him.
A : It is obligatory for your father to pay the fidyah (ransom payment) because he intentionally wore sewn clothing while knowing he was in the state of ihram, even if he wore it due to illness, cold, or the like. He must pay the fidyah, which is slaughtering a sheep that is acceptable as an udhiyah (Id sacrifice) and distributing it to the poor of Makkah , or feeding six poor people, giving each poor person half a sa' (a dry measure of about 3 kg) of dates, wheat, or other staple food of the country, to be given to the poor and needy of Makkah , or fasting for three days in Makkah or elsewhere. He also owes another fidyah of the same kind for intentionally covering his head while in the state of ihram. Your father must make sincere repentance for wearing the sewn clothing and covering his head intentionally while in the state of ihram, and because he committed a forbidden act that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prohibited. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
