Is wearing sewn garments among the prohibitions of ihram, such as a person wearing sewn sandals?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : He says:The questioner : Is wearing sewn garments among the prohibitions of ihram, such as a person wearing sewn sandals?

The Shaykh : Regarding wearing sewn garments, my brothers, first of all, there is no report from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbidding the wearing of sewn garments in these specific terms. They mentioned that the first person to say this, or the first to speak of it, was Ibrahim al-Nakha'i, one of the jurists of the Tabi'un (the generation after the Companions). However, it is not reported in the Sunnah that it is forbidden for a man to wear sewn garments. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked, "What does the person in ihram wear?" and he said:
He does not wear the shirt, nor the trousers, nor the biranis, nor the turbans, nor the leather socks. لا يلبس القميص ولا السراويل ولا البرانس ولا العمائم ولا الخفاف
Five things. The meaning of this is that everything else is permissible, because he was asked what the person in ihram wears, and he said, "He does not wear such and such." Therefore, he may wear everything else. From this, we know that the permissible clothing for the person in ihram is more than the forbidden clothing for the person in ihram. For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) turned away from mentioning the permissible clothing and mentioned the forbidden clothing, so that it would be clear that everything else is lawful. Thus, a shirt, even if it has no stitching, is forbidden; that is, if it is woven without any stitching and a person wears it, this is forbidden. Likewise, we say this about trousers, and likewise about cloaks, and likewise about leather socks. Cloaks are wide garments that have a head covering attached to them, and most of those who wear them are from the Maghreb, as you see. So, we say that what is forbidden for the person in ihram is not the wearing of sewn garments; what is forbidden are these five things and what is similar to them in meaning. As for what has stitching, it is not forbidden. So, if a person has a patched izar (loincloth) and wears it while in ihram, is this forbidden for him? Answer, my brothers. No. Why? Because it is not a shirt, nor trousers, nor a cloak, nor leather socks, nor a turban. So, if he has sandals stitched with sewing, is that forbidden for him? It is not forbidden. So, the operative cause is never the thing that has stitching. The operative cause is that what is among the categories enumerated by the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) is forbidden, and likewise what is similar to them in meaning. And everything else is lawful, whether it has stitching or not.
