Sleeping and not staying overnight at Muzdalifah

Fatwa number ( 19291 )
Q: I performed the obligatory Hajj last year, 1416 AH. When we left 'Arafah after the sun had set on the ninth day, we were unable to reach Muzdalifah and were unable to stay overnight at Muzdalifah that night because the road leading to Muzdalifah was congested with cars. We continued driving our car toward Muzdalifah with the intention of staying overnight there, but drowsiness overcame us at around one in the morning, and we fell asleep before reaching it , as we did not arrive there until after the sun rose on the Day of Sacrifice. We did not stand there but continued driving to Mina . I ask your eminence to clarify the ruling in this matter, and whether we owe anything for it? May Allah reward you with the best reward, and may Allah preserve and protect you.
A : You must offer a sacrificial animal; because you left a obligatory rite of Hajj due to your negligence, as you stopped before it and slept until you missed the overnight stay at Muzdalifah . It was obligatory for you to continue driving to Muzdalifah until you could achieve the overnight stay there on the night of the Day of Sacrifice; based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): It was narrated by Imam Ahmad and the compilers of the four Sunan collections, and based on the saying of Allah the Exalted: [Al-Baqarah 2:198] . And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

من صلى صلاتنا هذه ووقف معنا حتى ندفع وكان قد وقف بعرفة ليلاً أو نهارًا فقد تم حجهremember Allah at al- Mash'ar al-Haram
