Fatwa number ( 19634 )
Q: Allah has blessed me with the Hajj of tamattu' in the year 1414 AH, along with my father and a group of relatives. We performed all the rituals, except that we did not perform the tawaf of ifadah, believing that the tawaf of farewell would suffice in its place and be sufficient for it . Since doubt has arisen in my mind, I hope you will guide me, knowing that this matter has been pending for nearly three years. Please inform us, may you be rewarded, and ask Allah for your forgiveness, a good ending, and make you a storehouse for Islam and the Muslims.
A: If you delayed the tawaf of ifadah and performed it when leaving from Makkah , it suffices in place of the tawaf of farewell. However, if you did not perform the tawaf when leaving except for the farewell only, and did not intend the tawaf of ifadah, then your Hajj is not complete until you perform the tawaf of ifadah. It is obligatory for you to return to Makkah and perform the tawaf of ifadah, and the sa'y after it if you were performing tamattu', and likewise if you were performing qiran or ifrad and had not performed the sa'y after the tawaf of arrival. If intercourse occurred during this period, it is obligatory for the one who engaged in intercourse to slaughter a fidyah in Makkah , which is a sheep that is acceptable for the udhiyah, and it is distributed among the poor of the Haram. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions.
