The bridal gift of a woman when it reaches the nisab and a lunar year has passed since the marriage contract

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 17832 )
Q2: My wife has a deferred bridal gift that I owe, and it has been about ten years. She asks: Is zakah due on it, and how is it calculated after this period? I am aware that I can pay this deferred amount when she requests it, and it reaches the nisab.
A2: Zakah is obligatory on a woman’s bridal gift when it reaches the nisab and a lunar year has passed since the marriage contract; because she owns it by virtue of the contract with her. Therefore, it is obligatory for your wife to pay zakah on her bridal gift for the past period. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
