Ihram from Jeddah
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 19542 )
Q: I am an employee in a government department, seconded by my organization from Riyadh to Jeddah for a period ranging from two to four months. When I leave Riyadh for Jeddah , I intend to perform 'Umrah, but I do not know when the appropriate time will be for me, given my work circumstances... and so on. My question, O Shaykh, is: Do I enter ihram from Jeddah , or is it necessary to go to the miqat and enter ihram from there , knowing that many of my colleagues at work enter ihram in Jeddah from the residence where we live, and then go to Makkah to perform 'Umrah; therefore, I want the answer from your Eminence on this issue, may Allah place that in your scale of good deeds
A : One who arrives in Jeddah intending to perform 'Umrah is obligated to enter ihram for 'Umrah from the miqat he passes on his way, and it is not permissible for him to pass it without entering ihram. He does not enter ihram from Jeddah except its residents or those who intend to perform 'Umrah or Hajj from there among others. If he passes the miqat to Jeddah without entering ihram for some work or obstacles, then if he wants to enter ihram for 'Umrah, he must return to the miqat that
he passed while intending to perform 'Umrah, and he enters ihram from there. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
