What is the interpretation of the saying of Allah the Exalted: [Indeed, they were before that doers of good]? And how do we reconcile those who interpreted ihsan as one who does good in worship of Allah and to His servants with the hadith "The Muslim is the one from whose tongue and hand the Muslims are safe"? Is it a specific Islam?

The Shaykh : Yes?

The questioner : Your Eminence, some have interpreted the saying of Allah the Exalted in Surat al-Dhariyat:
Indeed, they were before that doers of good.
[Adh-Dhariyat 51:16]
.

The Shaykh :
Before that قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ
.

The questioner :
Before that قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ
.

The Shaykh :
Indeed, they were before that doers of good.
[Adh-Dhariyat 51:16]
.

The questioner :
Indeed, they were before that doers of good.
[Adh-Dhariyat 51:16]
They said: The doers of good are those who did good to Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, and did good to people. So how do we reconcile the saying of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) with this definition?
The saying of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) from the hadith of Abdullah ibn Umar:
A Muslim is he from whose hand and tongue the Muslims are safe.
Sahih Muslim 41
, and is this definition in the hadith for specific Islam?

The Shaykh : I did not understand the point of difficulty?

The questioner : O Shaykh, does the one who does good to the servants and does good to the Lord of the servants apply to this previous hadith, and is his Islam only specific Islam?

The Shaykh : His saying, Blessed and Exalted is He:
Indeed, they were before that doers of good.
[Adh-Dhariyat 51:16]
Ihsan is either in the worship of Allah, or in the dealing with the servants of Allah. So ihsan in the worship of Allah was explained by the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), he said:
To worship Allah as if you see Him, and if you cannot achieve this state of devotion then you must consider that He is looking at you.
Sahih al-Bukhari 50
. And ihsan in the dealing with creation: the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also interpreted it by his saying:
None of you will have faith till he wishes for his (Muslim) brother what he likes for himself.
Sahih al-Bukhari 13
, and he said (peace and blessings be upon him):
Whoever wishes to be delivered from the fire and enter the garden should die with faith in Allah and the Last Day and should treat the people as he wishes to be treated by them.
Sahih Muslim 1844a
, so this is ihsan in the dealing with creation.
And ihsan in the noble verse, Allah the Exalted mentioned a type of it and a kind of it in His saying:
(17) They used to sleep but little of the night, (18) And in the hours before dawn they would ask forgiveness,
[Adh-Dhariyat 51:17-18]
to the end of the verses, so the important thing is that ihsan is in the worship of Allah, and it is in the dealing with the servants of Allah. As for his saying (peace and blessings be upon him and his family):
A Muslim is he from whose hand and tongue the Muslims are safe.
Sahih Muslim 41
this is ihsan in the dealing with people, yes.
