Zakah on Inherited Wealth

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 19644 )
Q2: A man died and he had a sum of money in the bank that had not been zakahted for four years, and land that is rented out, and the rent remained with the real estate office for four years, and a sum with the state that had not been zakahted. I am the agent for collecting the sum and distributing it to the heirs. Should its zakah be paid out before distribution, or should each person be informed of the zakah due on his share and he should pay it out himself?
A2: Each of the heirs pays zakah on his share for the past years since the death of the deceased, so he pays out a quarter of a tenth of his share for every year that has passed. As for the funds with the state, each one pays zakah on his share when he receives it
and a year has passed since he received it, if his share reaches the nisab. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
