Zakat on the funds of a charitable group for Qur'an memorization deposited in a company for investment

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 15686 )
Q: The charitable group for memorizing the Noble Qur'an in 'Asir has deposited its funds in Al-Rajhi Company since its inception. These funds reach the group from benefactors, and they are zakat and voluntary charity. Please issue a ruling for us, may Allah reward you with good, regarding the zakat in detail. As for the second question: the group had a plot of land that it purchased ten years ago to establish an investment project on it. Due to the group's inability to bear the cost, it sold it this year to use the proceeds to help build a headquarters on land that the state granted us. Is zakat due on what has passed, or after a lunar year has passed if it is not spent on anything? Is zakat due on the group's funds deposited in Al-Rajhi Company for the past years? If these funds are subject to zakat, what is your opinion regarding the years that have passed without zakat being paid? And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad.
A: There is no zakat on the funds of the group for memorizing the Noble Qur'an; because they are
reserved for acts of righteousness and are spent in the causes of good. However, teachers are not given from the zakat unless they are poor; due to their poverty. Rather, their salaries are paid from voluntary charity that is not obligatory. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
