The third question of Fatwa No. ( 16361 )
Q3: I had a strong bull, but it became severely ill. I intended to slaughter it and leave it for the predators, but when I resolved to do so, one of the destitute poor people asked me for it, so I gave it to him. This bull has since recovered. Do I have a reward for this action, or would it have been better for me to slaughter it?
A3 : You have a reward according to the benefit derived from the wealth
with which you give charity. It is recommended that you spend the best of it so that its benefit is greater and its reward is greater. Allah the Exalted said:[Ali 'Imran 3:92] . And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

Never will you attain the good [reward] until you spend [in the way of Allah] from that which you love
