Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The third question of Fatwa number ( 17790 )
Q3: Is the fasting person whom the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) encouraged us to feed the poor fasting person, or the stranger in the country, or the one we invite to break our fast with us
in the home, such as relatives and family members
, and do we receive reward for providing iftar to the fasting people whom we invite specifically in Ramadan?

A3: It is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
Whoever provides the food for a fasting person to break his fast with, then for him is the same reward as his (the fasting person's), without anything being diminished from the reward of the fasting person.من فطر صائمًا كان له مثل أجره غير أنه لا ينقص من أجر الصائم شيء
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 807Sahih (Darussalam)
narrated by al-Tirmidhi , and the intended meaning of the fasting person here is: any fasting person among the Muslims, especially those who deserve charity by being fed, such as the poor, the needy, and the traveler, and this meaning is like his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
He who equips a fighter in Allaah’s path has taken part in the fighting.من جهز غازيًا في سبيل الله فقد غزا
Sunan Abi Dawud 2509Sahih (Al-Albani)
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
