Feeding the Fasting Person from Zakah Funds

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q2: The people of good (the donors) ask: Is it permissible to feed the fasting person from zakah funds, especially since some of them give their donations from zakah funds? And is it obligatory for those in charge of these charitable projects to clarify the method of donation so that the donors may receive abundant reward from Allah (Mighty and Majestic)? We request guidance in this area. May Allah benefit you with your knowledge, keep your steps firm toward the truth, and make you a storehouse for Islam and the Muslims.
A2: Zakah is for the poor and the needy and the other categories mentioned in the noble verse:
Zakah expenditures are only for the poor and for the needyإِنَّمَا الصَّدَقَاتُ لِلْفُقَرَاءِ وَالْمَسَاكِينِ
[At-Tawbah 9:60]
. Those who eat from this food may include the rich, non-Muslims, and those who are not among the recipients of zakah. Therefore, it is not permissible to spend zakah on a project to feed the fasting person.
