Q: Is it permissible for me to receive zakah? I am in debt, and that
debt is more than one hundred thousand riyals, and I am unable to pay it off because my salary is limited and does not cover the requirements of this era. Please give us a ruling, may Allah reward you, and may Allah protect you and guide your steps.
A : There is no harm in giving zakah to one who has a due debt that he cannot pay off, in order to help him with it or to free him from it; because he falls under the saying of Allah the Exalted: , and this is a debtor for himself who is unable to pay due to his poverty. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
