Q1: Is it permissible to give zakah to a man who owes you a debt , and then have him pay off that debt from that zakah?
A1: It is not permissible to give zakah to someone who owes you a debt in order for him to pay you back what he owes. However, if you give it to him because of his poverty, and then he pays you from it without any agreement between you two regarding that, there is nothing wrong with it. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
