Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : A questioner from Jeddah says: I have repented to Allah the Exalted, and praise be to Allah, and I maintain the five daily prayers at their times, but when I begin the prayer I am unable to be humble in my prayer, and I remember what I was doing before the prayer or what I will do after the prayer, or I remember the sins and disobedience I used to commit in the past before my repentance. Knowing that I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytan more than three times, how do I focus on humility in the prayer, and is there a supplication recited to repel Shaytan and his whispers?

The Shaykh : He complained of this to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family),
So the one who complained was ordered to spit to his left three times, seeking refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytan. He said: So I did this, and Allah removed from me what I was experiencing. فأمر الشاكي أن يتفل عن يساره ثلاثة مرات ، مستعيذا بالله من الشيطان الرجيم ، قال : ففعلت هذا فأذهب الله عني ما أجد
.
And on this basis, we say to the questioner: Do this. If you feel overwhelmed by distracting thoughts, spit to your left three times and say: I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytan, and what you are experiencing will go away from you, if Allah wills.
