Naming Oneself Aziz

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 20644 )
Q: I went to the General Directorate of Civil Affairs in Abha with a request to change my name from (Aziz) to Abdul Aziz , since Aziz is Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He). They informed me that this is not possible without a fatwa from your Eminence, as it is not among the names prohibited on the list, and since I desire nothing but the pleasure of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He), I would like you to issue a ruling on this, whether my name is not forbidden or whether it is necessary to add (Abd). May Allah protect you.
A: There is no harm in keeping this name, because there is no objection to it, and it is not one of the names exclusive to Allah. Allah named some of His servants Malik and Aziz, and He described His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as:
to the believers is kind and merciful.بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ رَءُوفٌ رَحِيمٌ
[At-Tawbah 9:128]
and He described some of His prophets as Al-‘Alim (All-Knowing) and Al-Hakim (All-Wise). And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
