Hijab According to the Jurists of the Schools of Jurisprudence

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The third question of Fatwa No. ( 17880 )
Q3: Regarding hijab, the Hanbalis hold that a woman who does not cover herself is a disbeliever, and it is not permissible to pray for her if she dies, no matter how much she prays; and hijab, in their view, is of one type, and whoever deviates from it is outside the scope of hijab. The Malikis, hold the opposite view, considering her a Muslim and permitting prayer for her and supplication for her?
A3: A woman’s hijab is obligatory, and it consists of covering her entire body from men who are not her mahram (relatives one may not marry). A woman who abandons hijab is considered a sinner and guilty of a sin, and she must be compelled to observe it, but she does not become a disbeliever for this, according to the Hanbalis or any other scholars; because abandoning hijab is merely a sin among sins, not disbelief, and it is not among the nullifiers of Islam. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
