The Shaykh : Amulets are either from the Qur'an or from something else. If they are from the Qur'an, there is disagreement among the scholars of the Salaf and the Khalaf. Some scholars say that hanging them is permissible and there is no harm in it, and they may cite the saying of Allah the Exalted: and consider this to be part of the blessing of the Qur'an, that Allah the Exalted repels the evil eye and harm from the one who hangs it. And some scholars from the Salaf and the Khalaf said that hanging them is forbidden, because such matters cannot be established without evidence from the Book and the Sunnah, and there is no evidence in the Book or the Sunnah that hanging the Qur'an will benefit its owner; rather, it only benefits the one who recites it. And Allah the Exalted said: So obtaining the blessing through the Qur'an is only in accordance with what the Shari'ah has prescribed. And this is the stronger position: that it is not permissible to hang amulets made from the Qur'an on the chest, or to place them under the pillow, or the like. And whoever wants to seek healing through the Qur'an, let him seek healing with it in accordance with what the Sunnah has prescribed. As for amulets that are not from the Qur'an, such as talismans whose meaning is unknown, or writings like inscriptions that are not read, or the like, they are forbidden, forbidden without doubt, and it is not permissible for a person to hang them in any way, because they may be the names of devils or the names of jinn or the like.
