In a family gathering, they exchange gifts, and the one who does not bring a gift is not given one

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: In our family gathering, we bring gifts and exchange them. The one who does not bring a gift does not take anything from these gifts. Each person present brings a gift different from the others. The gifts are drawn by numbers distributed to those who brought gifts. Note that a person may bring a gift worth five riyals and, by drawing a number (luck), receive a gift worth up to fifty riyals or more. Is this a form of the forbidden gambling and maysir, or not?
A: It is not permissible, because it is a form of maysir, which is gambling. Whoever pays a small gift hoping to receive a large one is taking a risk, acting in ignorance, and engaging in gharar (excessive uncertainty in a contract), and consuming wealth unjustly. Enmity and hatred may arise between them, and all of this falls under the general meaning of Allah’s saying:
(90) O you who have believed, indeed, intoxicants, gambling, [sacrificing on] stone alters [to other than Allah], and divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it that you may be successful. (91) Satan only wants to cause between you animosity and hatred through intoxicants and gambling and to avert you from the remembrance of Allah and from prayer. So will you not desist?
[Al-Ma'idah 5:90-91]
, and His saying:
O you who have believed, do not consume one another's wealth unjustly but only [in lawful] business by mutual consentيَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لا تَأْكُلُوا أَمْوَالَكُمْ بَيْنَكُمْ بِالْبَاطِلِ إِلا أَنْ تَكُونَ تِجَارَةً عَنْ تَرَاضٍ مِنْكُمْ
[An-Nisa 4:29]
,
The trade referred to as an exception here is: trade that takes place through lawful contracts.
