Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fourth question of Fatwa No. ( 16499 )
Q4: What is recited in the Sunnah of Isha and Witr, and what is said after the Witr ?
A4: There is no report specifying the recitation of a particular surah in the Sunnah of Isha. As for the Witr prayer, it is recommended to recite "Subhan al-‘Ali al-A‘la" (Glory be to your Lord, the Most High), "Al-Kafirun" (The Disbelievers), and "Al-Ikhlas" (The Sincerity). When one says the taslim from the Witr, he should say "Subhan al-Malik al-Quddus" (Glory be to the King, the Pure) three times, as narrated by the five except al-Tirmidhi from Abu ibn Ka‘b (may Allah be pleased with him), who said:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite in the Witr "Subhan al-‘Ali al-A‘la" (Glory be to your Lord, the Most High), "Qul ya ayyuha al-kafirun" (Say, O disbelievers), and "Qul huwa Allahu ahad" (Say, He is Allah, the One)كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقرأ في الوتر بسبح اسم ربك الأعلى وقل يا أيها الكافرون وقل هو الله أحد
. And Ahmad and al-Nasa'i added:
And when he said the salam, he would say: Subhanal-Malikil-Quddus (Glory be to the Sovereign, the Most Holy) three times.فإذا سلم قال سبحان الملك القدوس ثلاث مرات
Sunan an-Nasa'i 1729Sahih (Darussalam)
In a narration:
And he would raise his voice in the last partورفع صوته في الآخرة
. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
