The Perfumed Garment of the One in Ihram Before Entering Ihram

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Praise be to Allah alone, and may peace and blessings be upon the one after whom there is no prophet, Muhammad ibn Abdullah, his family, and his Companions. And after that: The Permanent Committee for Scholarly Research and Ifta has reviewed what was sent to His Eminence the Grand Mufti from the honorable Shaykh: Salih ibn Abdullah al-Jaloud, Judge of the General Court in the Al-Wajh Governorate, and referred to the Committee by the General Secretariat of the Council of Senior Scholars with number (258) and date 17/2/1431 AH. His Excellency asked a number of questions, and after the Committee studied them, it answered as follows: Q1: If the one in ihram perfumes his ihram garments before making the intention, is it permissible for him to continue wearing them after entering the rites?
A1: He must remove the perfumed garment when he enters the rites, and he must not put it back on until he has washed the perfume off it; for what came in the two Sahihs from Ya'la ibn Umayyah (may Allah be pleased with him) who said:
A man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was at al-Ji'ranah, and I was with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The man was wearing cut-up garments—meaning a robe—and he was anointed with perfume. He said: "I have entered the state of ihram for 'Umrah while wearing this and being anointed with perfume." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "What were you going to do in your Hajj?" He said: "I will remove these clothes from myself and wash this perfume off myself." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "Do in your 'Umrah what you were going to do in your Hajj."
And since it is established in the two Sahihs that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)
He was asked about what the one in ihram wears, and he said: "He does not wear a shirt, a turban, trousers, or a garment that has been touched by wadhs or saffron."سئل عما يلبس المحرم فقال: لا يلبس القميص ولا العمامة ولا السراويل ولا ثوبًا مسه ورس ولا زعفران
