The first question of Fatwa number ( 14880 )
Q1: If a person comes during the congregational prayer, late for the prayer, and misses two rak'ahs of it, for example, and tries to catch up by
standing in the last row, is this the best method?
A1: If a person enters the mosque and has missed part of the prayer and wants to catch up with the congregation for the remainder, he should walk with calmness and dignity until he reaches the row where the worshippers are, then he should line up with them and say the takbir for the prayer; for what was narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say:Jami` at-Tirmidhi 327Sahih (Darussalam) . And when Abu Bakrah came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was bowing, he bowed behind the row, then walked to the row and mentioned this to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sunan Abi Dawud 683Sahih (Al-Albani) , narrated by al-Bukhari . And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

When the Iqamah is called for Salat do not come to it rushing, rather come to it walking, and while you have tranquility. What you catch of it then pray it, and what you missed of it, then complete it.
إذا أقيمت الصلاة فلا تأتوها وأنتم تسعون، وأتوها وأنتم تمشون وعليكم السكينة، فما أدركتم فصلوا وما فاتكم فأتمواMay Allah increase your eagerness! But do not do it again.
