Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 14216 )
Q: What is the method of prostration of gratitude , when is it recommended to perform it, and what is the supplication in it? We ask for a complete and detailed clarification from your eminence?
A: The prostration of gratitude is prescribed to be performed when a Muslim experiences a blessing he was hoping for and expecting, or when he is saved from a hardship or disliked matter that befall him or was on the verge of befalling him. If he is saved from it, or if the blessing he was hoping for is attained, it is recommended (sunnah) for him to prostrate to Allah in a single prostration, glorifying Allah and thanking Him for the attainment of the blessing and the removal of the disliked matter. Wudu is not a condition for it. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
