The full ritual bath is obligatory when intending to pray while in a state of major ritual impurity

Fatwa number ( 16577 )
Q: I have gotten up from sleep several times while in a state of major ritual impurity. Is it obligatory for me
to perform dry ablution and pray in congregation within the time
, or should I perform the full ritual bath even if the time for prayer has passed?

A : It is obligatory for you to perform the full ritual bath if you intend to pray; because of the saying of Allah the Exalted:
O you who have believed, when you rise to [perform] prayer, wash your facesيَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِذَا قُمْتُمْ إِلَى الصَّلاَةِ فَاغْسِلُوا وُجُوهَكُمْ
[Al-Ma'idah 5:6]
up to His saying:
And if you are in a state of janabah, then purify yourselvesوَإِنْ كُنْتُمْ جُنُبًا فَاطَّهَّرُوا
[Al-Ma'idah 5:6]
. Therefore, the full ritual bath is obligatory, even if the time has passed; because you are excused in that, and purity from a state of ritual impurity is a condition for the validity of the prayer; because of the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Allaah, the Exalted, does not accept the prayer of any of you when you are defiled until you performed ablution.لا يقبل الله صلاة أحدكم إذا أحدث حتى يتوضأ
Sunan Abi Dawud 60Sahih (Al-Albani)
. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
