A heart patient living on the fifth floor: should he leave the congregation?
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The third question of Fatwa No. ( 19089 )
Q 3: My apartment is on the fifth floor, and I am suffering from a heart condition
I have been dealing with this condition for seven years. Sometimes I hear the adhan of the mosques around me and I am able to go down, but sometimes going down and up affects my heart and my general health. Is my prayer at home for the times when I am unable to go down to the mosque permissible or not? I know that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not grant a dispensation to a blind person living next to a mosque to pray in his home. So, if I am truly tired, do I pray at home, or is it necessary to go down and up to the fifth floor? I do not miss any prayer time at the mosque here, because I live next to the mosque and it is only one floor away. Please advise us, may Allah reward you and open the doors of knowledge for you and make you a lamp of good for every one who is misguided on the path of Islam.
Answer 3: If your condition is as you described, and you are on the fifth floor and suffering from a heart condition, and going up and down affects you, then there is no blame on you for praying at home during the times when going down to the mosque would harm you. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
