The Virtues of Surat al-Dukhan and Surat al-Waqi'ah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 18565 )
Q 1: I have read the hadith of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him):
Whoever recites Ha Mim Ad-Dukhan during the night, in the morning seventy thousand angels seek forgiveness for him.من قرأ حم الدخان ليلة أصبح يستغفر له سبعون ألف ملك
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2888Da'if (Darussalam)
narrated by
al-Tirmidhi and al-Asbahani . I have also read a hadith discussing the virtue of Surat al-Waqi'ah; therefore, I am committed to reading them every night. Is there any harm in this? I am eager to know the Sunnah in this matter, and I fear that the two hadiths are weak?

A 1: What is established to be recited at bedtime is Ayat al-Kursi (once), and Surat al-Ikhlas and the two Mu'awwidhat (three times). So you should recite these surahs at bedtime along with the tasbih and tahmid thirty-three times each, and the takbir thirty-four times; because that is authentic from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and that is sufficient, if Allah wills. As for the hadiths regarding the recitation of Surat (Ha-Mim) al-Dukhan and Surat al-Waqi'ah every night, they are weak or fabricated hadiths narrated through the route of 'Umar ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Abi Ja'tham , who fabricates hadiths and narrates them from trustworthy imams. They were also narrated through the route of Hisham ibn Ziyad Abi al-Muqdam , who fabricates hadiths and it is not permissible to cite him as evidence. They were also narrated through the route of Fadalah ibn Jubayr from Abu Umamah , and Fadalah did not hear from Abu Umamah , and he narrates from him what is not from his hadith. They were also narrated through the route of Tarif al-Sa'di , who is weak. They were also narrated from the route of Ahmad al-Yamami , who is a liar. They were also narrated through a route containing
'Abd al-Qadus ibn Habib , whose hadith is denounced and he is abandoned. They were also narrated through the route of Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman al-Qurashi al-Jada'ani , whose hadith is denounced and he is not cited as evidence. So these are hadiths that do not stand for citation or practice. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
